Second assignment!
My very first pants! Again we had to sketch 10 different pairs and these were the ones I choose to do.
I'm actually pretty happy with these as a first try, though I do think they fit a bit to big around my thighs so I haven't actually worn them (yet).

Our very first assignment at school was to make a skirt. It had to be made out of 100% wool and made from a basic skirt pattern. And it had to have lining.
We had to make at least 10 sketches of different skirts we wanted to make, and then we decided with our teacher which one to make.

I choose to make a mid-long/ long army green skirt with orange details which was inspired by military uniforms.

The skirt is very wrinkly here, but this is how it ended up.
The design is not really me. I thought back then that it was, but it's really not, so I haven't used it at all.
I like the length and shape, but I don't like the color (at least not for this). And i don't think this type of wool (or wool at all) was the right material for this design. Overall I think this skirt might just be a bit to conservative for me.

It's all a part of the learning process i guess.

This was only my second time trying to make a peace of garment completely from scratch and my first assignment at school, so with that in mind I think its an okay skirt. Though i do see all the mistakes now.
The darts that are way to deep, the crooked stitching and the "invisible" zipper that is not that invisible, but I learned at lot from making this.

Looking back at this skirt that I made only 6 months ago I can really see how much I've already learned and improved. Both skill and design wise.

Follow along to see more.

Hello and welcome to "Je Suis Isabella" - my new blog.

I am Isabella. I'm 20 years old, from Denmark and this is my blog.

2016 was a big year for me. I moved out, traveled, met new people and started my dream studies - Fashion Design. It's now 2017 and time is flying by so fast. Faster than ever! At least that's how it feels. Which is why I've chosen to start a blog. I needed a place to share and document my work and process. A place to reflect and a place where my friends, family and whomever else interested can follow along.
Let's see how it goes. I can't wait to see what 2017 has to offer!
