Taking some time to reflect today,
Both focusing on history: What have I achieved so far? How did it feel? What I am most proud of? What did I learn?
And also future: What goals do I have? Where am I heading? What do I want to spend time and energy on?

It's important to sometimes just pause the time, take a couple of steps back and analyze you own situation. Are you where you want to be? Are you heading the right direction? I try to take the time and spend some time with myself every now and then to make sure I know where I'm heading.

Friday night and Emma and me were super pumped for a night out. It's been way too much work + studies the last week so we really deserved a night out. And we got invited to have a drink with Cazette (Swedish DJ duo) before the club and then join them backstage where they were about to play at Love & Propaganda.

We got into a Lyft and after 5 minutes in the car we ended up in a car accident. It was in a crossing and our car drove right into a police car. Ambulance and probably 12-15 police men arrived just a couple of minutes later. Luckily everyone was fine and we decided to continue our night out. We got transported to the club by a recovery vehicle and had so much fun in the club even though the car accident.

However when I woke up on Saturday my neck really hurt so decided to go to the hospital. Got whiplash from the crash and according to the doctor I might have pain for another month. Crossing my fingers that it will get better soon! :)

Attended the world's greatest startup conference, Launch festival with more than 15,000 visitors. It was really inspiring to listen to the founders of Hyperloop and hear them describe the project. So fascinating that the plan is to be able to ride from LA to SF in 35(!) minutes. It's estimated to have a top speed of 1200km/h, craaazy!

And I also got to test-ride a Tesla Model X. Definately wouldn't mind to get one of those cars in the future.
In other words: Inspiration-level on top!

SACC-SF/SV arranged a company visit at the LinkedIn HQ on Wednesday night. I think it's so fascinating to see the places where companies such as LinkedIn and Google have HQ and what the atmosphere at the office is like. It seems to be super natural to have the company offering you as employee breakfast, lunch and dinner here in CA. And a lot of ping pong and other activities at the office as well.

I was the project leader for a Biotech seminar. It was about 20 people attending, experts from Sweden as well as American PhD's. The topic was clinical trials and regulatory affairs in the EU, very interesting actually.

Realized that being a project leader is something that I really enjoy doing. Being in charge of the outcome and responsible for everything from setting the plan and organizing to making sure the seminar runs smoothly and that every attendee is happy. Here are some photos from the event

Found my favorite spot in San Francisco early, Bernal Heights!

It's a big hill very close to where I live (about 2km to reach the top) so this is a place I go to at least a couple of times a week. Great for a power walk in the morning, back intervals when you really want to get a good exercise or simply just a place for reflection.

How to make sure you start the day in the best possible way?
- Have breakfast at Zynga!

Zynga is the producer of many successful games such as Farmville and their HQ are just on the way to our office. Jonas is being so nice inviting us for breakfast, exactly what you need when you are a poor unpaid intern. The office is also really inspiring! Too bad I'm not a software engineer... :)

Since I am the project leader of a BioTech Seminar next week, Helena and me attended a BioScience event in South San Francisco. The topic was hyperkalemia and the treatment/symtoms of that illness.

I understood <10% of everything that was said. But everyone was really friendly and I had a good time. Now I know exactly how my business friends feel like when they are listening to a nerdy engineer speaking about its topic.

SACC-SF/SV hosted a very interesting event about differences and similarities between Swedish-American business culture. Successful Swedes from Lookback, Klarna, Lyft and Dropbox attended a panel and gave their insights. A lot of time was spent on discussing meetings, how it is to get fired, hierarchy and atmosphere at companies located in the different continents.

Didn't have that much time listening and paying attention to the panel unfortunately (the only con when you're organizing the event). But some take-aways from the event as well from my own experience are:

- The environment is so much more secure in Sweden regarding getting fired. In the US you can be asked to pack your stuff and leave the building the same day while in Sweden you usually have at least 3 months before you have to leave the company.

- Here in the US the hierarchy is much more important while in Sweden it's almost non-existing. When it's about big decisions or important people you should always have the CEO included in the discussion (at least for us interns). In Sweden I think you have much more respect for people that are not sitting on a leader's position.

- The interest of helping other people out without asking anything back is much more common here in the US. By saying that I don't mean that Swedes are usually unhelpful, but here the people are genuinely happy for your success and will gladly share contacts as well as personal advice without asking anything back.

Spent the weekend in San Diego with Cornelia, Kristin and Maria. I haven't met Cornelia and Kristin since before I left for Singapore (7 months ago) so it was great to get some time and be bale to catch up properly. We stayed in their amazing studio downtown and spent most of the time on their rooftop with best possible tanning setting and a most needed pool.

Had so much fun during the entire weekend, don't really remember when I laughed so much the last time! We rented a ford mustang and went to LA. Such an amazing feeling, driving in a cab along the West Coast, singing loud and false with your best friends. So grateful for this weekend and feel super energized after the amazing time with the girls.
