What do you do in Rome? Drink with strangers of course! But that I will tell you more about later;)
But first let me start with how we came to Rome.
When we where going to Rome we had to go thru Pisa and you can not stop in Pisa without taking a picture of the leaning tower!
We got of the train, walked to the tower took our pictures, had some lunch, pizza of course! Then back to the train station to get the next train to Rome. We got there pretty late, we checked in and went to bed.
Once again we only have one full day, so we want to make the most of it. Which means getting up early and start walking.....
We saw Colosseum, Forum Romanum, Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi and much more!
After our long day of walking we went back to our hostel were we meet our roommates, they were going to go to one of the bars near by. So we decided to join them! We went with one guy and girl from Latvia and one girl from Germany.
We had a really great time, I mean this is why you stay at a hostel. You want to meet new people from around the world doing the same thing you are doing!🎒
The time is going faster and faster now, we have been traveling for a hole week now and only have two weeks left, time really does fly...
After Lyon we went to Nice where we stayed for three nights. We decided that we needed some time to rest and just relax, so a place with a beach didn't sound so bad😉
Since we just relaxed we did do much, we went to the beach in the morning on the first day and stayed until dinner time... So yes I burned myself. Turns out that sunscreen #15 isn't that effectiv in the lower part off France, oops...
This meant that the next day I stayed inside to stay away from the sun as much as possible. But hey at least I got some color!
After our time in Paris we continued on to Lyon, where we were going to stay for one night before we headed on to Nice. The next day before we left we decided to explore Lyon a lite bit. We went to the more central part of town where we had seen a church that we wanted to go to.
When we were done in Lyon we continued on to Nice but before we could get to Nice we had one more stop, Marseille. Luckily we didn't have to wait to long before we could get on the next train.
While we waited we went down to the harbor and had some ice cream and then we were on our way to Nice.
Paris the city of Love or if you have seen Monte-Carlo, city of lights😉
Our first day started with getting up pretty early because we wanted to see as much as possible since we where leaving the next day. We had check in the night before but the hostel we where staying at had made a mistake and only given us beds for one night instead of two. So we had to pack up all of our stuff and get a new room. The staff where really nice to solve the sleeping arrangements because the hostel was fully booked. So we had to bring in a mattress for one of us to sleep on. When everything was sorted out we started with going to the eiffel tower and of course we went up and of course we walked. Let me tell you it is a LOT of stairs!
But I got there with the feeling of victury because I didn't faint😝 and overseeing the amazing view, it hits me.... how far everything is from each other and how much walking we will be doing, haha.
So let's get our move on.
The arch was next on our list. When we got there I realised that I never want to drive in Paris😂 We later went to Louvren, where I attempted to do the picture where you have a finger on top of it and basically made a fool of myself. I then got to experience one of my Disney dreams, I got to see Notre Dame and the home of Quasimodo!
Then it was back to the hostel and get ready for dinner. After dinner we were suppose to have an early night and get up really early the next day, but we shared a room with 4 Americans so we ended up talking with them instead, oops😝
The next day we went to versilles to see the castle and garden. The garden is beautiful and the castle is just huge, would probably take days to see every single room.
But now we are back on the train and on to the next city!
Yes that is right, I am in Amsterdam!
But just for a day. My friend and I are traveling by interrail, we are starting in Amsterdam and then we will see where we end up...😝
So far it's been a long day here. I didn't finish packning until 1am (optimistic much? Yes you could say that) I woke up at 4.45am, which is not a lot of sleep.... when I landed I meet up with my friend and our long journey began.
Walking 3.4km may not seem so far, but with a 14kg backpack on your back it's a bloody marathon💪
After we left our bags at the hostel, we where out the doors again and with a camera around my neck we started exploring Amsterdam.
Let me just start by saying the Amsterdam is a very beautiful city and very cozy, but I was a litte bit disappointed. After you have seen the palace, monument, Anne Franks house and the bridges there was not that much more to see. So if you are looking for a town where you just want to relax and not do much, I highly recommend it.
Don't get me wrong I loved Amsterdam. It's a beautiful city and it reminds me a lot of home but I just had higher hopes of what it would be like.
But now we are moving on to the next city!
