My time in Seattle

Tuesday I woke up at 7 to see Ellia wake up and see me in the bed next to her. She was so happy to see me, I got one of the biggest hugs. I said hi to Celeste and Manon and then helped get the girls ready for school. Then Manon and I took Quinn to school and after that we went to the post office, Manon wanted to send something to her brother and friend in France. After that we went home, I started some laundry and worked some on the present I was giving to Celeste and Jon. At 11:30 we left for lunch. We met Louisa, Jorge, Amanda and Andy, Amanda's new Au pair at Hop Jacks's. I got some fish tacos that were delicious. We sat talking for a long time until it was time for us to go get the girls. Amanda and I got a cute and funny card from Jorge, a letter from Louisa and a key chain from both of them. We then picked up the girls, went home and had some snacks while playing a game. After I helped Ellia with her homework while Manon took Quinn to Martial arts, and then I went to pick her up after. We played a little before it was time for Ellia to go to martial arts. Then Celeste came home and we made dinner together. Manon and I went to pick Ellia up from martial arts, while I'd been on the east coast she'd gotten a new stripe, the one before black belt. So proud of her, to only think that she was a brown belt when I got here. Quinn had also gotten the yellow stripe on her belt which means she's almost ready to get a yellow belt, she was so happy. After dinner I gave them some gifts I bought at Disney World. Ellia got a cute Minnie Mouse cup, Quinn a Minnie Mouse stuffy, Manon some chocolate you can eat when you're Grumpy, Dopey or Happy and Celeste and Jon some chocolate covered pretzels. When it was time for the girls to go to bed I went to target to get some make up to bring back home. Then I sat up finishing the present, before going to bed exhausted.

Wednesday I took Quinn to school, so I could go run some errands afterwards. First stop was to get my nails done with Amanda, Andy, Karin and Dinah. After that I went to Marshals to return my carry on since the handle stopped working. Then I went to the bank to close down my account, and then lastly home for a quick lunch before getting the girls with Manon. We had some snacks, played for a while, I did some packing (Quinn tried to help) while Manon and Ellia did homework and then I went to TjMaxx to buy a new carry on. When I got back we had just enough time to make some Swedish chocolate balls before going to gymnastics. We could only stay at gymnastics for 45 minutes though because then we had to meet up the family, Dan, Cindy, Bill and Chris at the Cheesecake Factory for a final dinner. Before eating some cheesecake for desert I gave them my presents. Ellia and Quinn got a puzzle with a picture of the three of us with the text I LOVE YOU on it and Jon and Celeste (+the girls) got a scrapbook I've been working at since January. It was a 100 pages and had pictures from every months I've been here and special (uppslag) for special events like Halloween, pumpkin patch, Hawaii or Christmas. In the end there were a bunch of recipes for things I've made during my time her, for example the midsummer cake Celeste loves. And then it ends with a good bye letter I got tears writing. It was an awesome goodbye, couldn't have wished for a better family and extended family than this one! When we got home I stayed up packing a while and got my suitcases pretty much done just had to put in the toiletries and some of the cloths I was wearing the next day.

Thursday I woke up for the last time in this house for a while. Didn't sleep that well but since it was my last day here I went up to make Swedish pancakes for the girls for breakfast. Quinn was up really early so we were all done half an hour before we needed to leave, so we sat and cuddled for a while. After dropping her off we went back the house, I took a shower while Manon skyped with her friend, we then had some breakfast before heading to Bellevue square. I bought some last minute gifts and then we went to Victoria Secret. After that we were starving for lunch so we walked to MOD pizza. From there we went to target and then up to the Newcastle Golf Club to look at the view one last time. We had a little time at home so I packed down the gifts. Then it was time to get the girls one last time. Ellia played at the park a while before we got Quinn and went home for snack. During snack we payed the puzzle they got from me and then Ellia and I did some homework. When she gave it to me to correct she'd written "I love you Frida" on it 😍 such a sweetie. Jon took Ellia to kumon while Manon, Quinn and I went outside to play. When Ellia and Jon came back it was time to leave for the airport. Ellia hugged me all the way there. We parked and they helped me with my bags to the check in and then we went to security where it was time to say good bye. There was a lot of hugs and tears, definitely one of the hardest things I’ve done in my entire life. I got my last chai latte at Starbucks for this time and then went to my gate. When I was settle down to wait for boarding, Ellia called me on Skype. We cried a more and said another good bye. The flight went pretty quick. I actually got to fly business class from Seattle to London. It was so nice, the chairs were big and comfy, you had leg rests and we got really good food. I managed to sleep a few hours on the flight with tears in my eyes. When we got to London I only had an hour to get through secuity and to next gate. After security I started walking fast to get to the gate ad realised after a few minutes that I forgot my carry on at security so I ran back and luckily it was still laying in the same spot I left it. Then it was time to get on the flight to Stockholm, that flight went fast, I slept almost the entire time. Next thing I knew I landed in Stockholm, first time in Sweden in 19 months. I got my bags and went out the doors where I was met by my family and grandparents. They had flowers and a big pink heart ballon that said “Välkommen hem Frida” (Welcome home Frida). There was a lot of hugs and even more tears before we started the drive home. We had dinner and sat up talking and then Anna came over as a surprise, I thought she was down in Skåne, but she had come up for the weekend. We stayed up late and then Ellia called on skype again, she had just gotten out of school I also got to speak with Quinn when she got out of school. How am I gonna survive everyday with out them!

The next day we were gonna have a lunch with the family and my grandparents, but when we were gonna go to the car they took me to the house next to ours and there were a lot of friends of mine, family and family friends! It was so much fun to see everyone again! We had lots of yummy food and desserts and talked a lot. It was a great surprise party, it was so nice to catch up with everybody.

So now this adventure is over. I’m back home where I started 19 months before, but I’m definitely not the same person anymore. I’ve grown a lot, gotten to see a lot, met a lot of new people and finally learned a lot of new things. If anyone ever wondering if they should be an au pair or not, there’s no question about that it’ll be an experience you’ll never forget!

Friday it was time to head to Miami. We had breakfast and left the hotel at 9. Before starting our drive we looked in a few stores for St. Patrick's day things. When we got close we stopped by the grocery store to get some food and drinks we could have in Miami. First stop was the hostel, we dropped off all of our things and Amanda and Karin so they could check in. Emelie and I filled the car up with gas and returned it to the rental place 5 minutes before they closed. We took an uber back to the hostel, we got ready before having dinner and then went to a bar with some people from the hostel. From there we took a party bus to club hearts where we danced for hours and had a shot for $14.

Saturday we woke as late as possible to still get the amazing breakfast that consisted of a yoghurt, milk and a granola bar, luckily we'd bought some bagels the day before. After breakfast we went to the beach. We layer listening to music with regular breaks to cool off in the water. We also hanged out with some collage boys from Dallas that were in Miami for spring break. Around 5 we decided to go back to the hostel to get ready for the evening. We went to dinner with a promoter at a Greek restaurant. We got it all for free but the dinner took more than 2 hours. Afterwards we went home to the guys we met at the beach and drank and talked until the middle of the night. Didn't get to bed until 5 am.

Sunday we had an ever better breakfast than yesterday, cereal, milk and an orange. From there we got ready and went to the beach. It was even warmer today so it required more dips in the ocean, tough day. When we got back to the hostel we had some delicious pasta with meat sauce for dinner and then went to the cinema to watch Beauty and the Beast. I loved loved loved the movie! The best Disney remake according to me. It didn't feel rushed like a lot of movies can be and it was funny, exciting and romantic. When the movie was done we walked home and went to bed.

Monday was our last day on the trip, crazy how fast it went, but at the same time I can't imagine that we were in New York three weeks ago. After breakfast we packed our things and checked out. We went down to the beach to spend the last few hours enjoying the sun. Around 3 we went back to the hostel, Amanda and I changed our cloths and got our bags before it was time for us to head to the airport. We said good bye to Emelie and Karin and then took the bus to the airport. When we got there we figured out that our flight left 8:50 instead of 7:39, apparently we missed the email that it had changed time. Before getting to the gate we got some burgers from Wendy's and FaceTime Louisa who was gonna pick us up to tell her about the change of time. When it was time we went to the gate only to realize they changed it to a different terminal, luckily we weren't there last minute. The plane took about 6 hours, but they pasted quickly, I slept a few, watched a movie and read my book. When we landed the heroes Louisa and Jorge was there to pick us up, so thankful! We started by dropping off Amanda and then me. First thing I did was to look for my pajama, thought I know where they were but apparently not. Finally I found something I could wear, then a took a nice shower to get the sunscreen and the sand off. Got into Quinn's bed around 3 am.

Today we woke up early to drive down to Key West. After a few hours of driving we got there around 10. First stop was the southern most point, there we waited in line to take a photo. From there we drove to our hotel, we checked in, but it was too early to get our room so we took the shuttle downtown. We walked around, looked in some souvenir stores, along the harbor and had Key Lime pie. We all shared one normal slice and one dipped in chocolate. So delicious! Then we went back to the hotel and enjoyed a few hours by the pool. We got our room at 4 and we'd been chosen as the guest of the day. Which meant we got upgraded to a room with sea view. After showers and getting ready we took the shuttle into town again to watch an amazing sunset, followed by dinner. We sat outside and had bruschetta, fish tacos and four cheese pasta. Everything was delicious, but the portions were so big we were stuffed after. Before going home we shared two drinks, one strawberry daiquiri and one pina colada mixed with strawberry daiquiri. After that we were so tiered so we went home, sat outside in the hammock a while while talking to our neighbors.

Got to sleep in a little bit today since we didn’t have a park to get to. We packed our things, checked out and looked in the souvenir song before starting to drive south towards Key West. But since Key west was almost a 8 hours away from Orlando we decided to spend a night in Homestead before continuing the drive. Homestead was about a 4 and a half hour drive. On the way to Homestead you drive by the Everglades which is a big wetlands preserve in southern Florida where Alligators lives. We decided to stop for an airboat tour and alligator/crocodile show. The show was really interesting, you got to learn the difference between alligators and crocodiles, and see how Alligators capture their prey. After the show we went on the airboat through the grassland where we got to see some alligators sunbathing in their natural habitat. From the Everglades we only had about an hour drive to the motel, we stopped by Applebees on the way for some dinner, 2 entrees + two side Caesar salads for $20. Then we went to the motel and went to bed. Before going to sleep Ellia called me on Skype so I talked to her, Celeste, Quinn and Manon. What would we do without Skype.

We got to sleep a little longer today than yesterday but not much. After some quick breakfast in our room, consisting of yoghurt and granola we took the shuttle to Magic Kingdom so we were there at 8:30. It was so much colder than we thought, it was cloudy in the morning and windy, but it did get a little better in the afternoon. We stayed in the park until 11 pm, the first hours we did a lot of rides, we did our fastpass+ and a few others since it wasn't that long lines in the morning. Then we stood in line to the Seven Dwarfs ride, which was supposed to be a 2 hour line but turned into a 3 hour one... But we passed the time by eating bagels and playing games. After that we stood in line for Splash mountain, that line was only 1,5 hour. Our bodies were so tired after standing so long. at 7 pm we watched the parade and had a dance street party with some Disney characters. After that we watched a monsters inc live comedy show, that was hilarious, then at 9 it was time for fireworks. They were so good, and beautiful, specially with them being behind the castle. A little after that they did a show on the castle with projectors, it was amazing! No one creates magic like Disney. Before going home we looked through the stores and bought some souvenirs. Then we crashed in our beds exhausted.

We woke up early to take the shuttle to Epcot, where we had breakfast reservations at The Garden Grill 8:!5. The restaurant rotated so we got to see different views of nature while we ate, savannah, desert, jungle and farming. During the breakfast Chip, Dale, Goofy, Pluto, and Mickey also walked around greeting everybody. As breakfast we got, juice, scramble eggs, sausage, bacon, tater tots, fruit salad and sticky cinnamon rolls. Definitely the best breakfast so far. When we were all full to the maximum it was time to do some rides. Disney has this smart thing called FastPass+ where before your visit you could pick three rides you wanted to do and when, so we booked Soaring between 9-10 and then we could just go there beep our bands and go a head of the line. So smart! When we'd done all our three fast passes we could book new ones one at the time using the Disney World app. After a few hours of rides, some we had to stand in line for we ate our bagels we brought for lunch and walked around, Epcot had a flower festival going on so there was these amazing plant sculptors of characters all over the park. The weather wasn't the best the morning was cold but during the day it was okay. Around the lake in Epcot they had the World Showcase where they had 11 countries displayed, Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, US, Japan, Morocco, France, Great Britain, and Canada. In every country there was only people from that country working, so we talked to some of them from Norway, where they also had Swedish candy in the shop. In the afternoon it started raining and it just rained more and more. We had some chicken teriyaki for dinner in Japan and then watched the firework show that was really good and beautiful. It was all about that we all belong together in this world, with Earth lighting up in the middle of the lake. It was pouring down rain during the show so we were soaked and cold when it was time to head back to the hotel to get a few hours of sleep.

My favorites rides today was;
- Soaring, when you flew over the whole world. It was so well made, when we were on the savannah in Africa you could even smell the elephants.
- Frozen, it was a really cute ride with all the frozen characters singing and dancing.
- Mission Space, You got to train for a mission to space, with a stimulator that was spinning fast to make you get that heavy feeling you get when you're on an airplane.

Breakfast didn't start until 8 at today's hotel, so we got to sleep in a little, which was nice since we lost an hour when they switched to summer time. After breakfast we drove in to Orlando but quickly realized that it wasn't much there so we went to an outlet instead. Karin and I needed something green for St. Patrick's day and I found a pretty dark green skirt. I also found a pretty dress and some bras and 2 bikinis from Victoria Secret, they had an amazing sale, bras for $10 and bikinis $8 a piece. When we were done there we went to a grocery store and bought some food that we can have for breakfast and lunch the next day and then we went to Disney World!! After checking in to the New Orleans Riverside hotel, where we're staying the next 3 days we left our things in the room, which we can open with our wristbands instead of a card key. Then we took the boat to Disney Springs (downtown Disney) to eat some dinner, we shared a pasta and a pizza at Portobello. After that it was time to look in the stores. We all bought Minnie Mouse ears and Amanda and I also bought a cute key chain each. Around 9 we were all done looking around the giant area of stores so we took the boat back to the hotel. We managed to town our boat ride to when the theme parks have their firework shows, so we got to see them in the distance. Now it's time to go to bed to some sleep before for a day at Epcot tomorrow.

After breakfast at the hotel we packed the car and started driving towards Florida. After a few hours we arrived in St. Augustine which is the oldest city in the US, established 1565. It reminded me of Visby but with a Spanish twist. We walked along the main street where they had beautiful old houses, we made a stop for some tapas for lunch and then walked out of to the fort. It was a beautiful day with lots of sun, but very windy. When we were done in St. Augustine we continued driving, but first we stopped by target to get some wifi to book a hotel in Orlando. Which was hare than we thought since we didn't think about that it's the weekend. Most places were sold out but we were lucky to find a room at a hotel that had had some cancellation. We ended up only having to pay $80 for a room 10 min from downtown Orlando with car. On the way to Orlando we stopped for some fro-yo. Then when we got to the hotel we watched mellodifestivalen and ate some chips. I wanted Wiktoria or Jon Henrik Fjällgren and Aninia to win, but Robin's performance was at least better than Nano's.

We decided to sleep two nights in Savannah so we didn't have to check out and drag everything around with us all day. So after breakfast we took the car in to Savannah and walked around. The weather wasn't that great in the morning, it was cloudy and even rained a bit but it got better after a few hours. We started by the river street and then made our way down to Forsyth Park. We walked through a lot of squares, which is small parks/gardens about 2 blocks wide and long with trees and flowers. The Forsyth Park was big with a beautiful fountain in the middle. We went back up again and went by the square where Forrest Gump sits on a bench in the movie, unfortunately they put in the bench for the movie and then took it away again. From there we went to the city market and looked around. Since Savannah is one of the only cities you can drink alcohol outside on the street, we had to het a to go drink, we choose a peach sangria that we all shared, de-li-cous! Our last stop in Savannah was Leopold's Ice cream where they had yummy homemade ice cream. I got an ice cream sandwich (two cookies with ice cream in the middle) with coconut ice cream. After that we decided we were done with Savannah and that it was time to hit the beach so we drove to Tybee Island, which is also the place the filmed the Last song. We laid on the beach for a few hours and took a couple dips in the ocean. The sand was so fine and smooth but it was a bit windy so we all got sand everywhere, our entire body's were covered with a layer of sand. Then we walked along the beach and found the house they used as Miley Cyrus' house in the Last Song. After that it was time for some dinner, we sat on the deck of a restaurant on the beach and shared a shrimp burger, salad and nachos. We walked around a little more after and then started driving back to the hotel, with a stop by the dollar store on the way to get sunscreen, lotion, nail polish and aloe vera. The first thing we all did when we got to the hotel was rinse off all the sand in the shower. Then we watched the season premier of the Swedish let's dance and ate some Swedish chocolate. Tomorrow it's time to drive to Florida.

Woke up to a beautiful day, after some breakfast we checked out and took the shuttle the hotel offered into downtown. We walked around a while, spent a lot of time in the Charleston city market where they had a lot of pretty things. All of us loved some small cookie boxes that had beautiful design. We also saw the Old Slave Mart, where they had slave auctions a long time ago. Every one of us loved the city, it has a lot of history and definitely a lot of beautiful buildings. For lunch we ate at a southern bistro, we had heard that Charleston was famous for their shrimp and grits and she crab soup, so we order that and a arugula salad. It was all so delicious, I really like the shrimp and grits! After lunch we looked in the market a little more before taking the shuttle back to the hotel and then we started the drive down to Savannah. While driving we saw a beautiful sun set, there must be something with sun sets and the south, they're just so stunning here. We stopped at Wendy's for dinner and then got to the hotel after 8 pm.
