Tasmanien

Hi everyone!

It have happened quite much these last few days. Thursday was a chill day, I just walked a lot in the city and then in the evening I grabbed a dinner with Chrissy 😊 We ate a good meal and drank some alcohol, including this huge cider. It was like a BIG beer glass. We also went to this pub, bar etc. called "Jack Greene", it was a really nice place. So yeah, that was my Thursday.

So, it's morning here right now, the clock is 10am (when publishing this, the clock is about 3.30pm, the wifi was bad so it wouldn't publish in the morning). I am tired as hell, it's probably the jetlag that is kicking in. Today is just a chill day! I have watched Line of Duty planned for tomorrow. In the evening today, I'm going out to eat with Chrissy. She is from Tasmania but living i Sweden with her Swedish boyfriend, although, she is in Tasmania now, visiting her family. We are going to grab som food and just hang out.

I actually have som plans for the next few days, tomorrow I'm going to do Tahune Airwalk and Eagle gliding in Geeveston. It starts 9.30am and I'll take the bus about 8am a short walk from the hostel where I live. The day ends there about 5pm so I'll probably be back between 6 and 7 pm.

Right now (3.30pm), I'm going to watch an episode of Line of Duty and then go grab something to eat.

Over and out!

Hello guys!

From now on, I will only write in English at the blog, just to get me used to the English world. Feel free to translate on Google Translate 😊 I haven't been able to blog or write anywhere else on the airports because of bad wifi. So I thought I would give you some pictures and summaries now from my travel to Tasmania.

So when the day was coming for my first flight, I finished packing my bag, finished packing down all my things that were going to stay in Sweden and put them in the attic. I took a shower and prepared everything. Drove out to mom and Ronny and ate some food that mom had brought when going home from work. Then we all drove to Malmo, exchanged money at Forex and then went to the train station at Hyllie. There were quite many people at Forex so we had to hurry a little bit. There were also many busses at Hyllie so it was a quick goodbye to mom and Ronny. Many tears and many hugs. Then I got on the train to Copenhagen airport. Everything went smooth at the airport and I took a Jagermeister shot before getting on the plane. The flight was good except for a baby crying.

I got off in Qatar, a very big airport. Went through the controls and then went to my gate. The first picture is from the flight with Qatar airways (Qatar-Singapore). It was free food and drinks at the Qatar airways, both the one I took to and from Qatar. To Qatar we got chicken and rice, some risotto, bread and dessert. To Singapore we got breakfast - scrambled eggs, sausages, potatoes, yoghurt and juice. In the next picture, I'm on a skytrain between the terminals at Qatar airport. It was very cool and very different from the Swedish airports. Qatar airport was nice, but expensive, paid 80SEK for a beef sandwich.

I didn't take any pictures at Singapore airport because it was BIG and I was quite tired. Got my bag and then checked it in again. Got my boarding card and then went to the departure hall. Chilled for a bit and talked to mom and Ronny at facebook with video. It was very emotional for me, I cried A LOT. It felt very good talking to them, but when being so far away from home, it felt very hard.

Next picture, of the McDonalds meal, I had checked in at Melbourne airport. There were a lot of food restaurants, but I took a classics, McDonalds. The fourth picture is on the flight from Melbourne to Hobart. The leg space wasn't even existing haha. The flight was only 1 hours and 15 minutes so I survived.
Now I had finally arrived on Tasmania airport. It was definitely warmer here than in Sweden, around 22 degrees I think. There were busses outside the airport so I took one of them to my hostel The Nook Backpackers. I laid in central Hobart and it took about 20 minutes to get there. After arriving I chilled at the room for a bit, then I went for a long walk. I also went to the grocery store to buy some breakfast for the next morning.

Then I got to bed!

Prep. inför resan

Hejsan hoppsan allihopa!

Hello everyone!

I managed to get all the paperwork completed this week - insurance, visa, international driver's license, certificate of birth control pills, and I have paid the fee to the agency. Yesterday I got "green light" that I was able to book flights, so today I sat down with my mother and did it. Now that the papers were completed earlier than thought, I could also book the trip to an earlier date, more particularly this Monday January 9. 21.30 the flight lifts from Copenhagen. My mother works all day, but she and the rest of the family will at least see me and say goodbye in Malmo when I take the train to Denmark. Wihoo! Finally, now it is time. In a few minutes it is exactly 4 days left 👌

💎

Insurances. What should I wear? How long will you be gone?

I have and also the rest of the family have Länsförsäkringar as their bank, and therefore I also have those when I go down to Australia and various countries. It was actually pretty easy with their travel insurance, nothing was impossible to understand. First, you need a home insurance. It is my mother in this case when I have not left home yet. For home insurance to sign an extended travel insurance just before going. The extended travel insurance is only valid for 45 days, so it is not advisable to take it especially early before the trip. Should you be away for more than 45 days you also need to take out insurance "Longer stay abroad" at LF. This can be done a week before traveling. I thought that I sign the two parts of about one week before trip departure. So it looks with travel insurance at LF, other insurance companies, I have bad track.

💎

If everything goes as I want, I will be on the flight to Tasmania 12th of January. I will stay there until 31th of January and then I will travel to my host family in Perth, Australia. There, I will then spend the next 6 months. I will of course, after my au pair time, be traveling around Australia and New Zealand (possibly more nearby countries) and it does not work properly with a suitcase. Therefore, I have procured me a travel backpack. I have checked online for a while after one that would be a good fit for my adventure, but I felt that I wanted to try some out in the store first. Said and done, me and my mother went to the Outdoor Goods in Malmö where we met a guy who really had an eye on backpacks. I tried three of them, quite similar to each other, and fell for the backpack in the picture. It cost 1950: - in the store, but at www.outdoorexperten.se it only cost 1256: -! Ordered online and received it 4 days later. The backpack is the brand Jack Wolfskin and is 65 liters. You can open the entire front so that it almost becomes like a suitcase and you can also adjust the length of your back, just perfect.

Then I have also ordered and fixed some other things for the trip - photo for the visa, calendar, notebook, luggage scale, bagagelock, travel adapter, passport, travel tags, Australia book (received in graduation present), blindfold, neck pillow to the airplane trips, travel wallet, hard drive and passport wallet. That said, some goodies.
