What a year. I can't believe it's already 2018. A lot has happened and I'm so grateful for the year that's been.
It started with me being here in England visiting my boyfriend over new years. Yeah I was only visiting then. The following months after that was very much the same day in and day out. I was still working as a substitute teacher in all of these different nurseries. Every month I either visited Lee or he came home to Sweden for a few days, we missed each other a lot. Long distance relationships are hard but we always made it worked.
It kind of feels like the best part of the year been between May and now. Everything that's happened between then and now has been so special to me and I just feel lo lucky to have been apart of all of those moments of this last year.
May was one of my favorite months of the year. That's when me and Lee went to Scotland for the first time. Lee gave the Scotland trip to me for my birthday and I could still say today that it's the best birthday present I've ever received. We went for a 4 nights trip to Inverness up in the Highlands and it was absolutely amazing. Seeing Loch Ness for the first time, visiting the Culloden Battlefield, Clava Cairns standing stones and so many more places. I'm so happy today that we went there and it's definitely in my top five best things that happened this year. To see more of what we did you can watch my YouTube video here.
In the middle of June I went back to England to go to Glastonbury Festival together with Lee. It was such an incredible experience. I saw some amazing artists like Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry, Radiohead, Rag'n'Bone Man, First Aid Kit, Father John Misty and many many more. The feeling of the hole festival is so spiritual and I just didn't want to leave. It was so nice to be there cause you didn't care about anything else than being there in the moment.
I finally moved back to England in August. Me and Lee had been talking about moving in together for a while but we didn't know how or when. We decided when we were at the festival that we didn't want to wait for much longer but we knew that we weren't ready financially yet to get our own place so I moved in with Lee and his mum and started to look for a job, got the NI number and everything else sorted.
I had an amazing time in Croatia in September. I went there with Lee, my parents and my childhood friend and her parents and boyfriend. We went to a place called Makarska and it was so beautiful there. I haven't been on a holiday like that since 2015 when me and my parents went to Corfu in Greece. It just felt so amazing to go to a warm place and just enjoy the heat and the sun for a little while. I filmed a lot when I was there but I just haven't had the time or motivation to edit it all yet but I'll hopefully be uploading it to my YouTube very soon.
When we came back from Croatia I started applying for more jobs straight away since I hadn't heard anything from anyone while we were away. I emailed a few places and got a phone call the day after from the manager of French Connection saying that he wanted me to come in for an interview. The interview went well and I heard back from him a few days later saying that I got the job. So on the third of October I started working at French Connetion as a sales assistant and I'm actually really proud of myself for getting this job. I've never worked in retail before and it's been quite the experience.
It's been a really eventful year and it's actually been a lot better than I've thought it has. There's been a lot of times this year where I've thought that it hasn't been as good as I've wanted it to be or that I've wished I did a few things differently. Although now when I'm thinking back of it all it has actually been a really good year and now I just hope that 2018 will be even better. It'll be the year when me and Lee move back to London and get our first place together and I can't be more ready and excited.
I hope you all have had an amazing year.
2018. I'm ready.
Happy New Years everyone!
