One of the amazing things about their upcoming Beauty and the Beast is their marketing strategy. Disneys original Beauty and the Beast is one of their most beloved classics, and the only one that was nominated for best pictures at the Oscars back in 1991. The live action Cinderella was the first live action remake, with one of their princesses(their official princess line) in the front, and it got mixed reviews. The jungle book, their last remake, was a hugh success that almost joined the billion dollar club at the box office, and got a massive praise from both audience and critics. Today it has a Rotten tomato score at 95% and a audience score at 87%. I personally loved The jungle book, but I probably love it for different reasons for then most people. I love it for the visuals progress that Disneys shows in everything that they are putting out. For the motion captures that are getting incredible good, and weeks after the box office success of the The Jungle Book the announced that the director, Jon Favreau, is proceeding to do The Lion King remake.
Now then it comes to Beauty and the Beast, if you compare it to the marketing of Cinderella and The Jungle Book you can see a clear difference. Cinderella didn't had the same star power that Beauty and the Beast has with their big names like Emma Watson, Ian McKellen, Emma Thompson etc. and you can see that the stars social media accounts is helping the movie to go viral in social media, Emma Watson specially. It´s different in what they are putting out also, Beauty and the Beast is putting out more Tv spots, trying something new with motion portraits of the characters and pictures from behind the scenes. They put out a new Bluray edition with their 25th anniversary of the film, with a behind the scenes from 2017th edition on it and it went like gold. It´s really fun to follow the numbers of everything that they are putting out, and you can see the work and their plan behind the material. The nostalgic factor, the magic, the star power and the gorgeous backgrounds and art design. I would not be surprised if Beauty and the beast joined the billion dollar club, or even go up to 1,25 or 1,5. From what we have seen so far, it´s also a front runner for a Oscar in 2018 in the costume department and set design.
