Home/ Decor, Mood, Still Life

Yesterday my friends Kat and Xander hosted Thanksgiving at their castle. They live in Charlottenlund, a bit outside of Copenhagen in a collegium, which is student housing. But it actually is a castle. Or more like a beautiful old villa. There were about 40 people in total and soo much food! I scored some pumpkin pie, which I took home. I actually ate so much for dinner, that I did not have space for pie :D! So I took some home to have today. It was really delicious! I love thanksgiving dinner, we had 3 turkeys, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes with marshmallows, like 3 different kinds of stuffing, cornbread, salad, beans. gravy... I don't even know all the names of the food! And as usual I had way too much to eat- but I think that for Thanksgiving it is acceptable!

Last week I got some new things from Kähler Design . It is from the Hammershøj collection. I went for a bit darker colours, because most of the things I have at home are white. I especially love the dark cups, I think they are perfect for winter! I styled the products with beautiful LinenMe table cloth and some leaves I picked up in Charlottenlund yesterday. I have lately been obsessed with dark photos- as you have probably noticed so I think the colours go together so well! Hope you guys like it as well:) Have a lovely and hopefully calm Friday evening. After yesterday I am most definitely staying inside haha.

Still Life, christmas

OK! I can not hold it off any longer. I am officially going Christmas crazy this week. First thing, watching Love Actually- check. I am so proud of myself for holding it off so long! You know, Love Actually is my very most absolutely favourite film, and I restrained myself to ONLY watch it in the month before Christmas. Yes, perhaps I will watch is 15 times, but hey- I try! Next I need to decorate the apartment with all the christmas things I have. I have a looooot haha. Yes you can say it I am a freak, but Christmas is so nice and cozy. Some people look forward to summer- I look forward to Christmas. This year it will be a bit sad because I got some bad news from my family, but I think that we can pull through and make it as great as every year! The next step to get into the Christmas spirit is going to London. I think by now it is a tradition that I go visit my best friend Elizabeth, who studies there. So I am going to London on Saturday and I am very excited as @byrosemaria has decided to join us for 2 days so we have some plans to go to Christmas markets together and then a really cozy dinner! So all is well, or will be! :) Have an amazing day!!!

P.S. The gingerbread is hand made- yes for real, by my mom's friend. I got a bunch of them to give to my friends after graduation, because it is a Czech tradition to get these at fairs and give them to people. So i thought it would be nice to give them to some of my friends. And of course for Christmas these are super popular. I can't believe they are hand made haha. Insane concentraition and precision has to go in the making of them!

Photo info: I took the pictures last week, I put some christmas lights in the back to make the nice sprinkle effect and used aperture of about 2,0- 2,5 . Also the light was quite low so the camera was set to ISO 3200 and shutter speed 1/200.

Mood, Still Life

Good morning everyone!! The cold in Copenhagen is slowly creeping up on my, and until the Christmas markets open I am hiding in my apartment with a cup of tea. Or actually more like litres and litres of tea haha. I recently found out that I really enjoy taking pictures of still life. And I started doing it properly now, so that I take the time to prepare things for it, get some nice flowers, or collect grass outside. I am using it as a creative outlet. Winter is a sad time for photographers, especially in Scandinavia because it is dark all the time, so it is hard to plan outfit shoots if people work 8-5. I am done with classes this week, so I will have a lot more time at home and setting up pretty scenarios like this one will definitely be something I want to do more often. Being a stylist must be so much fun- working with pretty things all the time. I would love it! I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Tips, My kitties, Photography, Still Life

I love my DSLR camera, I really do! But there are some things, that it just can't do. For example? Give me the pictures I take straight away haha. The instantaneity of the instax is one of the reasons I love it. Within a minute, the picture I took is emerged on a piece of photo paper. I really enjoy the surprise as well- sometimes I mess up the picture completely and sometimes it comes out and looks perfect. Either way, it is a lot of fun. I have been testing this little fella for a few days now. It has a lot of functions to play around with, allowing you to get many different outcomes. Tad and I took some pictures of Toastie and Minii the first day we got it and they are so cute! The cats were a bit freaked out by it- maybe it was the flash haha. But I need to say, with christmas coming and all that, I can really recommend the instax cameras as christmas gifts. I mean, we all have smartphones with cameras, but since you get the pictures off the Instax straight away, it really is a crowd pleaser! I will definitely bring it along to parties and events with me, because the pictures are completely different than what you have off a normal camera. I guess you could call it retro!

Tad and I got an old polaroid camera as well, but it is a lot bigger and it is not possible to set modes on it, so there is less room to manoeuvre.

The INSTAX one that I got is one of the highest performing cameras from instax, so it is possible to set the light, exposure and what not. But for someone who does not know much about how to use these feautures it works just as fine. I am really happy that there is a macro mode, because I can take close-ups. If any of you have questions about this let me know :) maybe I can be of some help!

Food and Coffee, Photography, Still Life

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you guys enjoyed a nice weekend! I wish that weekends were longer- there is not enough time for everything. On one hand weekends are supposed to be for relaxing, but I mean honestly- no grown up person believes that! For us, weekends are for catching up on work or readings. And even though we know that we have the days off, we still feel like that we are doing something wrong when we actually rest!

But not this weekend! I took the time off and did things that I like and enjoy. And it worked out pretty well :). The pictures I am sharing today are ones I took on Friday. For the first time I actually took a lot of time to make a still-life setting and I am so so happy about how they turned out. I will have to do this more often! I really like the colour of the pictures- the flowers set a really nice autumn cozy mood! I took the pictures on my window, there is a space about 1,2m x 60cm- so not very big, but in the winter it is all I get, because that is where there is good light. Being a photographer in Scandinavia in the winter months is tough! There are only about 2-3 hours of workable light. And if someone has a full time job, well then they don't really see sunlight for a few months haha. I hope you guys like the pictures, as I said- I am so happy about them :)

P.S. The products that I styled are from Eva Solo:)
