Today I wanted to show you how I do my tumeric latte or golden milk as some like to call it. I am actually feeling a bit sick right now so a tumeric latte is perfect for the occation. Since tumeric is packed with antioxidants and is an inflammitory, it's perfect for when you're feeling a little sicky and the color is so beautiful and vibrant so it'll cheer you up.
The first time I tried golden milk I actually didn't like it. And I'm the kind of person who won't eat something I don't like just because someone somewhere said that it was healthy. But then after a few weeks I found another recipe and decided to try and make it again. This was a winner. This is the best one yet and I make it all the time. I know that some have been interested so I thought I'd share the recipe.
1 cup of any kind of milk
1 cm of tumeric root**
2 cm of ginger root
1 - 2 teaspoons of honey
A pinch of black pepper***
* You can use powdered tumeric if you want to.
** You can use powdered ginger here too. I prefer the root of both spices.
*** The black pepper helps absorb the tumeric
Just pour the milk into a kettle and grate in the tumeric and ginger. Then add the honey and black pepper. Warm it up but don't bring it up to a boil since that will break down most of the nutrients in the tumeric and ginger. Pour it into a cup and enjoy.
