Hey!

We are finally on the east coast of the states!

We’re staying at a resort in Laguna Niguel, Orange County, with a stunning view of the Pacific Ocean.

Orange County is a County in California with an estimated population of 3 million people. It’s the home to a lot of rich people and is a popular destination for tourists. The Native Americans was the first people who inhabited the area, but in 1776 the first Europeans settled there and nowadays the white non-Hispanics constitutes the majority of the population.

I started off yesterday with taking an early morning jog on the beach and then relaxed by the pool for a while before it was time for breakfast. I had booked the rest of the day to stay in the hotel’s spa since my body and mind really needed a day full of relaxing after all of these past travel days. I didn’t do much after the spa, I pretty much just chilled in my room until it was time to go to bed.

Today, however, it was time to live the day as a part of the TV show “the O.C”. I had planned out a couple of these iconic locations from the show and had a full day ahead of me. The first place on the list was the Newport Harbour, where I visited the Balboa pier and Ruby’s Diner. Ruby’s Diner is a diner that’s completely 1940’s inspired with bright red booths and chrome accents. I had never eaten at a restaurant like this, so it was definitely an unforgettable experience. I then rented a boat at the marina and explored a bit in the area before I docked in the middle of nowhere to lay on the bow and enjoy the moment. I had forgotten to bring the sunblock and happened to fall asleep for quite a while, so let me just say that I look like a ridiculously red tomato. It’s not pretty.

Anyhow, I’ll write again soon!

Hi!

I’ve always been very fascinated by Las Vegas and its bright lights, so this city was a definite destination when I and Anna planned our road trip.

We arrived at the McCarran International Airport around 8 pm and then took a cab to our hotel, which is called the Mandarin Oriental and lies at the Las Vegas Strip. I checked in and left my bags in my room before I went on a small night adventure down the Strip. There were colourful lights everywhere, a few fireworks were fired off and the water show at the Bellagio fountains was really cool. I got back at the hotel around midnight and got some well-needed sleep.

I went to the Las Vegas Visitors & Convention Center Bureau today and found out about the city’s history. Las Vegas was founded and incorporated in the early 20th century and have quickly grown bigger ever since then. Las Vegas is situated in desert-like areas where ranching and mining are important industries. Close to the city, many test explosions of nuclear weapons have been made, especially in the 50’s. Nowadays, Las Vegas is called “The Entertainment Capital of the World” and it definitively lives up to that name with its mega casino-hotels and associated entertainment. Most of these casinos, big hotels and other popular tourist attractions that you probably know of are along the famous Las Vegas Strip, however, this well-known boulevard is not actually in Las Vegas.

I went on this rollercoaster in the middle of the Las Vegas Strip when I was on my way home to our hotel and even though it may not be the wildest one, it’s definitely one-of-a-kind and still worth the ride.

Anyways, I should probably go now and meet Anna at the Palm. Keep your fingers crossed for us, we might need it haha!

On our last destination we went to Winter Park, Colorado. It was clear that we were going to a mountain when we decided our five destinations, so we looked around and our friend gave us an advice to go there.

The population in Winter park was 2000 census 662. Tourist and seasonal workers increase the population significantly. Winter Park is the home to the winter park resort that is a well-known ski resort in Colorado.

Both I and Fanny love to go outside to a mountain, I ride snowboard and Fanny skies. This was truly the most fun destination of them all. Riding a snowboard is defiantly the most fun thing you can do when you go outside!

After we had ridden the slopes all day long we were a bit tired but, when you have been on the mountain all day you must go to after ski!! I had heard by our friend Julia that the after ski was really great in Winter Park.

When people her about the city Las Vegas, I can secure that they are thinking about alots of casinos and party’s. Now I’m going to tell you about the darker side of the third town that we went to.

Before we went on our trip I read about our five different city’s that we were about to visit. This town, Las Vegas was a really interesting town to read about. I came across an article about how homeless, poor and people that just wanted to live down the tunnels under the city. I became so interested in this article that I watch allot of movies and documentaries about it. Of course, when I read about it I was really excited to visit this tunnels and so what kind of people who lived down there and how they lived.

I can tell you that this gave experience left me whit a big footprint in my heart. It was heart wrecking to see these people live under those circumstances that they did. When I came out of the tunnels I went right on to a store and bought some food and necessary articles to those people I had met. I could not believe that the people had it that bad.

Las Vegas is a city that is built on gambling, vice and other forms of entertainment. The city was founded by ranchers and railroad workers but quickly found that its greatest asset was not it's spring but its casinos. Las Vegas is known for their embrace of the Old West, style freedoms, gambling and prostitution. From the beginning and maybe today to the casinos were/are used to keep money from different crimes like drug dealing.

I and Fanny decided to go to one casino named Palm, just to see how it is and why everyone wants to go there.

Hey!

It’s been a few days since I last spoke to you. We have now left the state of New York and gone to Jersey City in New Jersey instead. I’ve finally adjusted to the change of time zones, so I’m much more alert now than I was in New York.

I thought that since I didn’t know anything about Jersey City until now, then you probably don’t know much about it either, so I’ll just write some of what I found about the city.

Jersey City is a part of New York’s metropolitan area and Jersey City’s business depends a lot on New York City. The city’s industry is versatile and includes oil refineries, electro-mechanical and chemical industries. Jersey City is also one of the fastest growing cities in the state and it’s a popular destination for tourists during the summer time. The famous Jersey Shore goes from New Brunswick to Cape May Point in New Jersey and is one of the most known shores in the US.

I didn’t know much about New Jersey before we went here other than that the TV show “Jersey Shore” was filmed in a small town, Seaside Heights, at the end of the Jersey Shore. I’ve seen a couple of the series seasons and found it quite entertaining, so I and Anna decided to stay at a hotel in Jersey City and take a day trip today to Seaside Heights. The sun has been shining the whole day and I spent many hours at the beach. I Basically just took the day as it came and walked around in the neighbourhoods that Jersey Shore was filmed and then decided to take a stroll down the boardwalk where I passed by a few souvenir shops. I stayed to watch the firework play in the evening before I took the bus back to Jersey City.

I will talk to you again soon!

Hello! This time I’m going to write about when we were visiting or second destination on our trip in the USA. On our second stop we decided to visit the state New Jersey and go to Jersey City. It was the closest town to New York City within our five different places that we are visiting so we decided to go there next on.

Jersey Cityis the second most settled town in New Jersey with around 260 thousand pupils.Jersey City is a town with a lot of different religions, ethnicities andcultures. Some of the different cultures come from Italy, Filipino, India,Ireland, African and Asian. Beyond that the city is known for their differentcultures the town also are known for their several shopping districts, museumsand library’s, festivals, clubs, the long beach walks and of course we can’tforget the TV show, Jersey shore.

Actuallythey did produce jersey shore in Seaside Heights and not in Jersey City but thecity is close to Jersey City and the name fit in with the city so, a lot ofpeople think it is produced there. The series is a very good show, and youwon’t believe it, but when I was walking past the street to do some shopping Imeet Snooki that was on the show!!! I said to her that I was an really big fanof her, and well.. then she followed me to their house were they filmed theshow! O my goodness that was a really exciting and memorable experience J

Later on the day I was a little bit tired in my legs so I just went to our hotel room at the hotel DubbelTree that is located in the heart of the financial district when visiting New York City and New Jersey.

See you guys next time when I’m going to write about our third destination on our road trip!

Hi again!

The flight from Arlanda Airport to JFK (John F. Kennedy International Airport) took roughly 8 hours, so you can imagine how tired I was when we arrived. We got a cab and went to our hotel in Midtown Manhattan, got checked in and settled down in our rooms. I took a quick nap to fight some of my jetlag before the day started for real.

Anna and I had decided to meet later on the day to see our first American football game ever, but we had the day for ourselves before that. I’ve been a big fan of the TV show "Gossip Girl" for quite a while, so I had already booked a Gossip Girl sightseeing tour that would let me visit some of the iconic filming locations. One of the locations was the Grand Central and it was amazing to see the great architecture of the building in real life. I went shopping at 34th Street for a while after the sightseeing and then strolled around in Central Park. The nature was truly beautiful and a big contrast to the city’s grey buildings.

The next thing on the schedule was to meet up at our hotel before we went to the football stadium. It was a great experience to see a real American football game live. Anna then went to the Justin Bieber concert, but I was extremely tired and went to our hotel to just chill for the rest of the night and that's what I've been doing until now. It’s only 8 pm here, but since it’s 2 am at home Ithink it’s alright to call it a night now.

It was anamazing first day on our road trip and I’m looking forward to writing to you guys again from the upcoming destinations!

Hi everyone!

As Anna already told you, our first destination is the city called “The Big Apple”, New York City.

Nowadays, most people in our age see New York as a cool city that often can be seen in the movies and TV shows and that there’s a lot of fancy nightclubs where the world’s hottest celebrities spend their nights at however, there is more to it than only that.

New York is the biggest city in the US with a population of 8,4 million. The city is probably the most cosmopolitan in the world and it has been called the cultural and financial capital of the world. It is also one of the cities with the biggest tourism and it is the city’s fifth biggest industry nowadays. The city has a major impact on the media, fashion and entertainment and it's one of the largest centres of filmmaking and television production.

The history however, goes all the way back to the year 1626 when a Dutch bought Southern Manhattan and founded a new colony which was called Niew Amsterdam. Only two years later the Brits came and took over the colony and decided to name it New York instead and has kept its name ever since then. New York quickly grew bigger because of it’s great harbour and many people have immigrated to the city and still does to this day.

So, I hope that you’ve just learned some new facts about New York City that you didn’t know before. I will post the blog post about what I did today just after this one is up, so stay tuned!

Hello my followers! Mine and fanny’s first destination on our car drive around the USA starts in the town that never sleeps, New York. New York City is the most settled town in USA and has a strong global influence whit in economy, media, politics, fashion, education and entertainment. New York City’s history started year 1609 when the Englishman Henry Hudson was searching for a new way to east India. That was when he found the natural harbor by the intended Hudson River.

Well, when me and fanny sat in our beautiful car and drove to New York, we started to figure out what we wanted to do when we arrived to this big and beautiful town. We had heard about many different destinations that was very interesting. Like going out and shop, watch NBA basketball, visit empire state building, bicycle around central park, watch at Manhattan from above in a helicopter and go and watch a Broadway musical. For my sake I knew one thing I had to do, one thing that had been my dream since I were a little kid. Visit a real American football game with my favorite team the New York Giants!! It was a blest, and of course Fanny went with me because she also wanted to discover this amazing experience.

Later onthe day Fanny and I split up because we wanted to do different things. I wantedto see a really good singer and good looking artist, Justin Bieber. I justthought that I was going to listen to his concert in Madison square garden, butI even got to meet him backstage!!!
