Boys room is the one that I find challenging - specially now, when he kinda knows what he likes and he likes football, play station and he wants to be YouTuber😂 I guess it’s kinda typical for that age...but back to his room...
When I chose furniture - main thing was to have it easy transformable and with hidden storage. He hates to clean his room, but likes when it’s clean! So by putting furniture with hidden storage - drawers under the bed, cabinets with door and so on it’s kinda easy for him to keep it clean or at least to make it look like that...
my son is collector - he have been collecting and still are collecting everything possible so he needs some place where to display it and that’s where I use cd/dvd screwed to wall... Not even mention latest trend with Nerf guns - he had them all over floor and they where to big to be putter somewhere - so I found old chest what he painted black and there is space for every single one of them...

Mostly everything in his room is from Ikea or it’s thrifted cause this room is the one that changes the most - grows with him and he grows fast!
Goal by creating his room is to make room that makes him feel and gives him possibility to be independent and by that I mean - he can clean it and keep it clean by himself, he can reach and find everything he needs and it’s easy to organize!

Hope this was a bit useful for you! And let me know if you have any good tips for boys room!

I’m definitely that person who loves Christmas and I’m looking forward to it already for couple of months!
Christmas for me is not about gifts, it’s about being together! Christmas is somehow magical and it’s even more magical if u have kids that still believes in Santa...but Christmas comes also with lots of stress. Why are we so stressed? Cause we have to manage to buy all those gifts, wrap them in and sometimes even hide them. Then we have to clean and decorate home, we have to manage Christmas shopping while shops are still open and then we have to cook for hours to make that perfect Christmas dinner... Of course - we still have to check Pinterest to find what’s trendy for this year and how exactly I should set up table for Christmas dinner...

But is it all really necessary? Remember when I still lived in Latvia and we all where grown ups we made our own Christmas - that started with secret lottery to find out who you will buy gift to (that’s the way how you skip all those gifts that goes to fretex after some months) and we made wish list...yeah - sounds boring, but it’s not guaranteed if u will get what u have wish for and if you do - you are sure you get exactly what you need! Exception was kids - they gets more gifts, or gifts from everyone. But so many gifts as in Norway I have never experienced in my life until I celebrated my first Christmas here with my boyfriends family...I’m not saying it’s bad, but it’s maybe worth thinking through...Is it really necessary?!
Now to dinner...we used to make it all together instead of getting to ready served table. We spent day shopping and preparing it all together and I remember - it was so fun!
For me Christmas is all about being together without rush, not about gifts and not about dinner (well is actually really good)

How to get that perfect gift?
My answer is - talk together and listen! That’s what I’m doing for couple of months before Christmas to figure out what to give in gift. And one thing is for sure - think quality not quantity! I would much more appreciate small but good quality thing instead of lots of things I just feel I have to keep cause it was gift... And I believe that most of the peoples will agree with that!
And I love to wrap in gifts - natural materials and some thrift shop treasure as old cigar box is perfect for gift wrapping for me!

Have yourself merry and calm December and remember Christmas is about being together!

After lots of request on my Instagram I decided to share recipe to my banana bread that is big favorite in our family!

You will need:
• 4-5 bananas (mashed and riped)
• 1/2 cup almond butter (peanut butter works good as well)
• 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
• 4 eggs
• vanilla extract 1tsp
• 1/2 cup coconut flour
• 1/2 cup raw cacao powder
• 3 tsp baking powder (less if use baking soda)
• Himalaya salt
• chopped dark chocolate (free choice)

Now it’s time to put it together...
1. Turn on oven on 180’C and prepare baking form (I use same as for bread)
2. Mix together bananas, eggs, vanilla, nut butter and coconut oil (I use mixer for that)
3. Add rest of the ingredients (dry ones) chocolate at the very end, if wanted.
4. Pour it all in baking form that’s either buttered or covered with baking paper
5. Bake for around 1 hour, but remember to check when it comes around 40 minutes. To do that I use wooden stick (same as for summer grilling) - insert in in very center of bread form and take out - it should come out clean - then it’s done.
6. Let it cool down for about 1/2 hour

This is big favorite in our home - cause my goal is not to throw away food - everything can be used if u do some planning. So when bananas get big black spots - I wait - it means banana bread is coming.
You can make same recipe without cacao powder and it will be regular, but still healthy - gluten and sugar free banana bread. We are chocolate lovers, so we make this instead of brownies and chocolate cake! Even my 7 years old son likes it with glass of milk!
Let me know if u try it😉

Today I thought to talk about green plants... I’m kinda plant obsessed and I enjoy to see them growing, enjoy watering them - I actually do!
But it haven’t been like that forever! I used to have just cactus in my room when I was kid and I loved cactuses until I was teenager and all of them died... Even 2 years ago I was able to forget about my cactus and it dried out...
How it all started? I don’t know?! Maybe it’s my grandson who even talks with her plants and they do grow like crazy...maybe it’s aging...have no idea! But I sometimes talk to my plants as well - don’t misunderstand - we don’t have conversations, just more spiritual talking - now it’s your turn to get some water or that’s a nice newborn down there...it’s mostly just thinking out load. But yeah - back to start...we bought apartment more than 1.5 years ago and painted entrance black...No windows - just black! It didn’t seem dark, but I had thought that I will fill it with real green - no plastic! But all that money spent and time to find plants who likes dark...nothing worked - they all died! So I gave up and repainted it brighter - you can see on my Instagram if u want.
At this day I have over 17 green plants - no flowers and they all grow...I have even challenged myself to try to regrow cutoffs and they grow as well... I don’t know what changed - but they all grow and it makes me so happy! I know I will have more greens - just have to figure out where and how to place them!
I think that green plants kinda gives special feeling to room - feeling like nothing else is able to give!
Lover down some inspiration from Pinterest only picture that’s mine is first one!

Extra shelves in front of window is kinda old new thing and I love it - it gives that feeling of little extra! I think I might have something like that during spring season!
Picture from Pinterest

My kitchen is dark - so plants are challenging there, but I’ll figure out something! Cause I love the look!

Now look again to those pictures and cut off plans in your mind...I believe you will understand why plants are “must” in every home and everywhere!

November is all about coziness and I know we are already in a middle, but I’m going to work tomorrow and that means I’m starting to live as I used to and there are so many things I need to manage...
Thought I will share things that are important for me to get done until December comes...

- girls Christmas party - that’s “must”
- take picture and order holiday cards
- buy half of Christmas gift and decide all of them
- clean half of the apartment
- decide what handmade gifts will be made
- drink lots of tea
- enjoy first, second or even fifth snow like kids do
- go to some small coffee place for coffee and cake
- prepare my sons birthday party
- wash windows
- prepare for advent
- go out in dark, make fire place and drink hot chocolate
- watch one Christmas movie
- make sure Christmas wishlist is sent...

Those are the things that I have comes up with so far - things that makes this dark month more magic... And I’m obsessed with magic - I want my son to believe that there is Santa Claus or Nisse who comes with gifts, I want to make memories for him, so when he grows up he wants to make even better for his kids!
I’m all about Christmas at the moment, but we won’t be having Christmas tree until December - that’s just rule we have at our place... We don’t eat ginger breads or drink Christmas drinks, even know shops have been overloaded already since October...No - we save that for December - then we eat it every day and we just enjoy that time like no other!

Do u make lists what you need to get done during months? Have you started decorating? When do you put up Christmas tree?

Long time no see!
Lately I have been struggling with my health - actually I haven’t been going to work for couple of weeks - doctor is serious this time...and it’s killing me - even if sometimes I think how good it will be to stay home and do nothing - then not anymore! I’m just looking forward to day I will walk into kindergarten where I work and spend all day with those little rascals there🖤
Why I’m staying home?
Diagnosis says - inflammation of the balance sheet that have cause some crazy dizziness, nauseous and even unconsciousness... Not fun at all and as it sound more than enough I also have some disorder in my blood and I need to take some supplements to get it all back together... but I’m really trying my best and crossing fingers for being back to work next week!
It’s won’t be about staying home or anything...but it will be about health and wellness - you know - once you have been tested and waiting for answers for brain cancer and things like that - you kinda start thinking about living better, cleaner, healthier!
So what I have done now - I have sorted out all my bathroom - creams and make-up and things I’m not using I just gave away and you know what - it was a lot!!! Now my goal is to use up things I have and when I will buy some new products I will pay attention to what’s in there - I don’t want to get healthy just by eating - I want to get it all over! You know - things you put on your face, body gets in your blood almost faster than what you eat! So why we eat salads and put some bad anti aging cream on our face? Yeah...I’m obsessed with this at a time!
Here is a part of what I cleaned away from my “beauty” shelves

And to be honest - it was more - couple of times more!
Is it empty in my make up bag now? No - it’s still far from that! Do I have just organic things there now? No - not at all, but I hope one day I will! But I don’t support throwing away things and that’s why it will take time for me to replace things I have at the moment. I find it smart to do it in a way like that - that’s more eco-friendly and wallet-friendly! And now it makes me so happy to see, that some products are getting empty!
Could you think of cleaning your make-up and getting rid of things?
Would you like to hear more about changes I am and I will be making? “Baby steps” as I call them😉

It’s that time of year when pumpkins are everywhere and pumpkin spice is a must!
So I thought I will share with u how to make pumpkin spice at home...
I usually prepare it and keep it in fridge and when I feel like I can just take and add to whatever I want to. Mostly it’s breakfast porridge or latte, but same thing you can use to make soup or sauce - it’s gluten free and vegan so everyone can play around it in a way they like!

So how to make it?
1. You cut pumpkin in a half and clean out all the seeds and rest of soft part - I use spoon and just scrape it off.
2. I cut it in smaller pieces (4-6 depends on size) and spray pumpkin “meat” part with coconut oil.
3. I put it in oven at 180’ and I leave it there for 1/2 hour or until soft.
4. I let it cool and then take off skin - normally it’s coming off easily just by pulling it a little.
5. I put it in blender, add some cinnamon and nutmeg (can be added later, but I use those spices whenever it’s pumpkin so I choose to add it now) and blend until smooth. If u prefer to have a bit texture - use fork to make it porridge like.
6. I store it in fridge in some closed box up to 4 days (it never last longer - I eat it up)

To make pumpkin spice latte just add your espresso a spoonful with this and mix it well before adding milk. I add it to my morning oatmeal or almond porridge. If I want it sweeter use some agave syrup or other natural sweeteners and of course cinnamon and nutmeg after taste!

Hope this was useful!
Let me know how u use pumpkins during season ;)

So it's finally that week when my mom is visiting me. Last time she was in Norway was more than 2 years ago and normally I meet her and rest of my family just during summer holidays that I spend in Latvia - every summer - 2 weeks I spend in Latvia - eating good food, enjoying family and siblings all around and nature... Showing my son things I used to love and things that are important in a way for me and my boyfriend, who is Norwegian have nothing against that - he knows that that's the part of our relationship and that's how it will be every single year...
But now my mom came! Wish it would be my dad as well, but he had to work...maybe next time! Everything is different for my mom and I love that she gets to see how I'm actually living - big just in pictures, but real life and it makes her so happy! And so as me!
My mom is here just for couple of days - from Wednesday to Monday cause then there are direct flight from Trondheim to Riga. We are enjoying our time together and trying to get the best out of it even if I still have to go to work and it cuts off couple of hours during days we could be together. Good thing that my son is home and having autumn holidays from school and spending some quality time with his grandma - normally it's 2 weeks at summer time they meet...
That's why you here less from me now, cause I have a bit different priorities at a time...but I'm still posting daily on my Instagram!
Wishing you all amazing weekend with this sneak picture of my mom (she of course hates it)

Lets talk about something that is bit embarrassing, but we all experience... Bloating. I have been reading and reading, and reading lots about reasons and here is what i have found out...

Reasons why we get bloated...

  • gluten sensitivity/celiac disease or other food intolerances- you can get it checked at your doctor with some simple blood test, but yet - not always it will show. I am gluten sensitiv, but just until some level - that means - if i will eat a little bread everything will be ok, but if i will eat couple of slices - most likely i will end up with stomach pain and over bloated.
  • poor food combining - try to cut on combining different foods - eat fruits alone - dont mix it with other foods like dairy, or proteins.
  • irregular meal times - try to have a plan what and when you eat, keep it small and regular.
  • and i know there are much more reasons why, but...

But...lets concentrate us on solutions... There are foods that are known as good for you when you are bloated - like

  • herbs and teas - ginger, fennel, oregano, parsley, green tea, bone broth and herbal teas.
  • probiotics - known as "good bacteria" like natural unsweetened yoghurt, kefir and kombucha - things i cant live without - they kill bad bacteria and help your stomach work better.
  • water and water rich vegetables and fruits - make sure to drink enough water during the day. Remember you also get water from leafy greens, cucumber, melon, berries etc.

Things you should better avoid if u are struggling with bloated stomach...

  • sugar and all sweetened snacks - i guess we all already know that sugar does no good for us...
  • some vegetables are known for causing bloating - like cabbage, broccoli, onion, garlic, cauliflower, beans etc.
  • gluten - wheat, corn, oats - those all are proceed grains that are hard diggest for many of us.
  • and of course sweetened dairy - like yoghurts with taste even when it stands zero sugar, chocolate milk and so on...sugar never scores high when it comes to our well being...

Those are just some things that i came up to after doing some research and trying out it on myself... Im aware that different things works different for peoples - whats good for one, wont work for everyone, thats why i made "safe list" of things that most of us experience as "fart food" or we just know, that after eating some particularly food we will be farting or burping...

What are the foods that work good or bad for you?

I have been looking for those boots a while and now they had sale...I was so happy - they even had my size! It's not that often when you have big feet - like really big...
Today I finally picked up my boots at post office and dilemma is real - should I keep them or send back?!?
They are so nice, but little bit tight...but it's leather and that means it will stretch after wearing and fit perfectly...yet I don't know what to do...
You know - sometimes when you get thing you have ordered, you see it in real life and you get so disappointed that you send it straight back...that's kinda easy. This is not that time - this is time when you try them over and over again and put in front of you to just look at them...
Would you keep them?!? Anyone else having big feet struggle?
