Twenty things I learned while being twenty...

A challenge won't kill you. Coconut oil is the answer to literally everything and anything. Don't waste your time on vampires, aka people who feed on your energy levels. Make plans and goals instead of procrastinate. A positive mindset changes your life and everything in it. Reading isn't a waste of time. Take your job seriously, it'll reward you in the end. Do more things for others out of kindness, a good karma will take you far. Do all the things you want to do, even if it means doing them on your own. Reading gives you a hundred lives in one lifetime.

Exercise is good for you and improves your mood. Doing reckless things can be extremely rewarding. It's okay to remove people out of your life if they do you more harm than good. Appreciate your family, they do more for you than you think. You can't please everyone and still be happy yourself. Do everything you can with the lot you were given. Organic and vegan products are underestimated. Life literally flies by and it's out duty to live it as fully as possible (yes, I just read "Me before you" and so should you). Wake up early and make your day count. It's fine to make mistake as long as you keep growing and learn from every single one of them.

Mai Billsbepaid lipstick from The Balm.

I have this new found love of photographing makeup! Whenever I'm bored or should be doing something important, I just take photos instead. New bad habit. This nude lipstick tho, is the latest addition to my makeup stash and it's pretty bomb. Everything from The Balm is, I've never been disappointed by any of their products so far. It arrived just in time for my birthday, so perfect timing for a gift to myself. And yes, those are totally allowed.

Speaking of makeup pictures... If you like the ones above, feel free to check out the new Instagram account I just made (only makeup, nothing else) @alyaramakeup. So if you're like me and love makeup, it might be a pretty good match!

Love how my mom got me these flowers thinking they needed to be photogenic, she knows me so well!

So... How are we already halfway through June? Feels like yesterday I was going to Stockholm to see 5 seconds of summer but that was almost two weeks ago. Let's hope the rest of the summer doesn't fly by at the same speed, because I haven't had the time to enjoy the summer one bit yet.

Here's a little update to what I've been up to for this past week: I've been celebrating my birthday with my family like I posted about. I've also been working Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so I'm probably the only one who loves it being Monday tomorrow. On Thursday I went in to town and did a little shopping and met up with my friend, Frida. We ended up having a pizza date and she actually got me a Sephora giftcard for my birthday (iih, thank you). Same day I finally booked my flight to Los Angeles, feels good to finally have one more thing checked off (after so many complications). Also while I've been working this weekend, some relatives have been over for some more birthday celebrations! Hope you had just as good week as I did!

Flowers I got today + The mudcake I decorated as my birthday cake.

June 8th is here, the day of my birthday. My 21st birthday to be exact. I had a good day, even tho I didn't anything particularly special, but it's not always needed. Also getting a tax refund today isn't making my day any worse. I feel pretty old since it was a couple of years ago since I graduated. But at least I feel good about having plans for a full year from now. I'm going to do a study years abroad, which I will probably post about later when it's getting a little closer.

Later in the afternoon my parents celebrated me by giving these beautiful flowers, chocolate and gifts. I also made this amazing mudcake with caramel chocolate candies in it as a birthday cake. It's so heavy it's gonna last for days, but oh so good. My relatives are going to come and celebrate my birthday on Sunday, so we went pretty easy today. But after working the weekend + Monday while still being sick, this was exactly what I needed.

Anastasia Beverly Hills dipbrow pomade in dark brown.

This little guy is the reason to why I've only tried one other brow product in my life, and that was before this one. I tried it for the first time a couple of years ago and I'm still stuck with it, possibly (and hopefully) forever. It's that good and the hype is definitely not for nothing like some other products.

It's one of the most versatile products I own. I use it only for my eyebrows, but I used to use it as an eyeliner, both on my waterline and lashline. I'm sure it can be used to contour your lips too for example, if you're into that sort of thing. It's also versatile in the way that you can make your eyebrows look however you want them to. If you already have good shaped brows and just went to fill in the small gaps, it's perfect for that. If you don't have ideal brows and need to draw them on for your desired look, it's perfect for that too. And no, it's not a crime to draw your eyebrows on even if people are acting like it is. It's your face, you can do whatever the hell you want with it. It's perfect if you want to go light handed for a natural look, also if you want to have a bold "perfect" look. The choice is up to you and how you choose to apply it. The possibilities are endless.

The only negative about this product that I can think of it that it gets pretty dry after it being used for a while. There's a lot of hacks for this issue tho, like using oils. The dry part is only a layer on top of the product, so if you "dig" a little with your brush you will get under that layer to the "real" product. Tho, I find the dry layer can be of use if you don't want your brows to be super pigmented in one area, like in the beginning of your brows. It's always better to build up anything when it comes to makeup, so to start light is always a good idea anyways.

I love hos the pictures made it look like there's 0 product in the jar... That's not the case at all. I would say it can last up to 1-2 years when using daily. Money well spend if you ask me!

Old town in Stockholm.

How gorgeous is Stockholm this time of a year tho? After staying in a hotel overnight, we went to have a look around the old parts of Stockholm, which is always my favorite part. I'm not in the capital very often, so I have to make it count while I'm there. It's so beautiful and worth the trouble of getting there and the hour to find a parking space. But thank god I don't live in Stockholm, I wouldn't have any idea how to get around. Driving wouldn't even be an option.

The plan was to stay in Stockholm for another night, but we have to go home tonight instead. Which of course, sucks when something doesn't go as planned. Speakning of absolute no planning, I packed an entire bag of makeup but I forgot makeup remover, moisterizer and even eyeshadow. So for the first time in ages I had to do a natural makeup look, which of course tortured me a little. It totally was for the better tho, it was 30 degrees out and I was literally melting. But those are the problems I don't even mind having!

5 seconds of summer in Ericsson Globe.

Ya'll didn't think I'd miss a concert over a stupid cold, did you? Hell no, this is the only concert I have booked this year so I had to go. Concerts are my happy place for sure. Third year in a row seeing them and not planning on breaking that tradition just yet. And just the perfect way to start the summer on, 30 degrees and 5 seconds of summer.

The concert was totally amazing, as always. They played a bunch of old songs as well as new ones, so it was a good mix. Last year was a teeny tiny bit better tho. I had better seats (which honestly, makes the world's difference even tho it shouldn't) and I had a concert buddy to freak out with (who ironically is in Australia where the band is from). Every concert is somehow special tho, so many unexpected things happen and I love everything about it.

Even tho I'm going to live in Barcelona next year, I'm looking forward to another concert. Hopefully I'll be able to go then too, hopefully one way or another!

Tested the macro setting on my new camera, I approve.

So, I'm sick... Again. After babysitting my nephew... Again. It was only a month since last time but that doesn't seem to matter much. Worst timing in the world, since I'm going to Stockholm tomorrow and there's about 25 degrees and I can't be out to enjoy it. I also have the this craving to exercise that only occurs when I'm sick and can't do it? Typical. I feel bad for the person I'm gonna sit next to at the concert... Sneezing and coughing all the time. Wishing it was another week until the Stockholm trip since I might not be able to go after all...

Only been sick since Saturday and I'm already going pretty crazy, crawling up the walls at this point. I had to spend the first two days completely in bad and ever since yesterday I've been up, but I'm coughing like crazy not to even mention my nose... Argh. So frustrating. Let's hope I get better for tomorrow, but for that I'll need a miracle.

My favorite makeup brushes are all from Real Techniques.

Accidentally went overboard with contouring for your taste? Don't wipe is off just yet! Just use your normal powderbrush with the powder you normally use (the one you use to set your face with in your own skincolor) and blend your contour with your highlight. The results will be more natural and with less contrast.

Did you accidentally get eyeshadow fall-out under your eyes and cheeks? Or maybe you're just like me liking to finish your base before starting on your eyes? Just use a fan brush and brush away any fall-outs. Tho, when you're doing your base first, try to minimize the fall-outs as much as possible. You can do this by not applying too much eyeshadow on your brush or hold a sheet of paper under your eyes while doing your application (especially for shimmers and glitter, I use this trick all the time).

Is your eyeshadow not pigmented enough for the look you're going for? Dampen your brush before applying your eyeshadow! If you own a Mac Fix+ you can use that as well. This works for every eyeshadow for more pigmentation. I tend to use this trick especially when using shimmers or glitters to really make it stand out. It works like a charm, everytime!

Urban Decay All Nighter makeup setting spray.

Some good kind of setting spray is a must for longer lasting makeup, especially for special occasions. Spray your face after you've finished applying your makeup and your makeup will "sink" in to your skin and make it last a lot longer. The cool spray refreshes your skin and will leave you with flawless finish that lasts all day long (and as promised- all night).

Before when I didn't use any setting spray at all, my makeup would literally melt off my face after just a normal day, not to even mention a night of clubbing. I never have the habit of touching up my makeup, apart from lip liner but with this spray I rarely even worry about that (depending on how long it's been). If you're looking for a cheaper alternative, ELF setting spray does the same job, but not with the same high quality. It will refresh your skin and make your makeup last longer, but it won't "lock" it in place the same way as the Urban Decay one. I personally would use ELF for everyday use, to work or school and save money by using Urban Decay for special occasions or when needed.

After reading all the insta/twitter-famous reviews on Sephora's website about all the things they've done after using the spray and still be looking flawless, I can agree to a certain point but not completely. It is a really good product, really worth the price, even tho it's on the more expensive side. But it's not a miracle product. Yes, you may be able to walk out in the rain, go out for a night and still look good, but it's definitely not crying-proof nor smudge-proof. The only real con about this product tho is that your makeup will still be looking flawless at the end of the day and the last thing you want to do is to wash it all off... Honestly, the struggle is as real as can be.

I recommend setting sprays in general to everyone, it's the perfect way to "lock" your makeup in place for a long time without touch-up! The Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray is the best one I've tried so far and I find it well worth the money and a total no-brainer when it comes to the best setting sprays!
